L‘ultima editio typica dei libri tridentini 1961-1962

Negli anni 1961-1962 la Congregazione dei Riti promulgò l’ultima edizione tipica del Breviario, del Pontificale e del Messale Romano. Nel 1952 aveva pubblicato una nuova edizione del Rituale. Lo studio ripercorre la storia di queste edizioni, ne descrive le peculiarità e le novità rispetto a quelle sino ad allora in vigore, e cerca di rispondere all’interrogativo che ancora oggi gli studiosi si pongono sulle ragioni che hanno spinto a edizioni così ravvicinate alla vigilia del Concilio Vaticano II che aveva in programma la riforma generale della liturgia romana.

In 1961-1962, the Congregation of Rites published the last typical edition of the Breviary, of the Pontifical and of the Roman Missal. In 1952 had been also published a new edition of the Ritual. This essay traces the history of these editions, describes their peculiarities and innovations with reference to the norms that were effective at that time, and tries to answer the question, that is still asked today by scholars, i.e., which reasons have compelled to these so close editions at the vigil of the Vatican II Council, that had in its program the general reform of the liturgy.
