Description
The artist certainly is, more than anyone else, a citizen of the world, an eternal traveller and hence a countryless person. Artists are countryless but in a special way, since they are forced to live and work on the move, in constant search of their own utopia, the island for which there is no guarantee that they will reach or even approach, even though it is their only homeland—their only destination and homecoming: the island, which is nothing other than their own work.
The artists in this exhibition are the conscious travellers in this adventure, and they are only an indicative few among those who have visited—and will visit—the Ithacas and the Cytheras in this vast watery expanse which is often rough and rarely calm.
